To transform the site into a unique and thriving precinct, provides an improved public realm, multiple food, beverage and retail options, and enhanced amenity for the local Sorrento community.

The design of the redevelopment for Sorrento Plaza aims to deliver significant benefits back to the community, as informed by our engagement with the City of Joondalup and local community.

Public Car Parking & Traffic

The proposal now includes an increase to both parking for onsite commercial uses, as well as up to 15 car bays being made available for the general public (in addition to the commercial bays to be provided). This is a significant increase to what currently exists on site and what is required by the current planning framework.

The design includes an integrated public plaza / foyer with large on and off site public alfresco areas that adjoin food and beverage outlets , ensuring activation of the streetscape to bring more life to the area.

Public Area Landscape Works

A key finding of community engagement and an acknowledged issue with the current planning requirements, is the opportunity to provide significant landscaping of the public realm areas. The upgrades will put Sorrento on the map and make both the commercial offerings and public areas an attractive place to visit.

Considered & Integrated Development Outcome

Following redevelopment of the BP Site, the project team acknowledged that the opportunity for the amalgamation and ownership of all remaining land in the Sorrento Activity Centre and adjacent residential R80 lots provides for a more considered and integrated outcome. It would also mean the best chance to deliver on design excellence, car parking and environmental performance outcomes.

Removal of Power lines

Significant cost, time and effort is being expended to underground powerlines, ahead of any works by the City of Joondalup or Western Power.
